Item 282 Marquetry Hitler's house by Robert Gruber

ITEM 282:  WOOD MARQUETRY PICTURE OF “THE WOLF’S LAIR” – HITLER’S HOUSE AT BERCHTESGADEN.
DESCRIPTION:   Inlaid mahogany wood picture and frame made by PoW Robert GRUBER.
36.5 X 27.5 cm.
The use of mahogany wood is very unusual, but prisoners of war scrounged wood for handicraft from any source available.   Sources expanded as the war lengthened and the PoW were able to spend time outside of the camps, working on farms and bush camps, etc.
